The 12th annual meeting of the Glenboro Community Development Corporation was called to order by chairperson Cliff Cullen on January 29th, 2003. Greetings were brought from Betty Christie on behalf of the Village of Glenboro and Reeve Earl Malyon brought greetings from the R.M. of South Cypress. Reeve Malyon commented that the GCDC is one of the positive things in our community and that we should support change and forward thinking.

Betty Christie introduced and welcomed the newcomers to Glenboro and area. There were 19 new households mentioned this year. Approximately 100 people enjoyed many kinds of hor d’oeuvres supplied by the Spruce Woods Inn and the Glenboro Co-op.

Joan Neale presented the financial report with a cash and term deposit balance of $6,051.75 and accounts receivable of $8,676.43. There are total current assets of $14,728.18 and current liabilities of $439.44. However, new tables for the hall have just been purchased at a cost of approximately $4,000.00.

Cliff Cullen gave the Chairman’s report. He welcomed everyone to the evening and thanked the Gazette for their support throughout the year. He mentioned that the original GCDC began in October 1964 and that the new organization should not be limited to past activities but that we must think "outside the box". All committees could use new members. Cliff acknowledged the support given to the GCDC from the Village and the R.M.’s

The hall has revised it’s rates now that they have purchased portable partitions to use for smaller functions. The Army is using the facility for nine days in February/03.

The theatre, being an older building is in need of repair. Thanks to Don Foster and his committee for all of their hard work in maintaining the theatre.

Camel Park has new signage, garbage cans and flags.

The museum has proved to be very successful. The committee is spearheading the new history book. Bingo is being held under the auspicous of the museum committee.

The Tourism committee has new merchandise on hand. It can be purchased from Darren Myers.

Agriculture is getting more positive even though we have lost our elevator this year. We are not alone in this. We must think about diversification.

Darren Myers works 50% on Development Officer and 50% on Recreation Director. He is a great resource of information.

This year Glen Tosh from the Glenboro and Area Foundation announced the receipients of the 2003 grants.

Cliff acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the executive. He thanked everyone for coming out. His closing statement was "Remember, we are all in this together, please share your ideas and your time".

The evening continued with the "Putting on the Ritz" casino evening and ended with the live auction of five donated items. Everyone enjoyed the evening.
