In 2002, 6 Greenbacks loans were made for a grand total of $5,897.94, almost double that of 2001. Many thanks to Westoba for their continued support of this program.

Buy-A-Bundle Promotion: $1860.00 has been raised to date in individual donations as well as an additional $1,000 donation by the Bingo Committee. Many thanks one and all for your generosity. Based on these figures it is clearly evident that Glenboro and area residents value the Gaiety Theatre and support our fundraising activities.

The 2003 Glenboro and Area Community Events list was placed in the January 14th, 2003 edition of the Gazette. This is a very important tool used to promote local events and the Glenboro area. It is used in a variety of ways, some of which include; the Glenboro website, Parks Route website, Travel Manitoba listings, Southwest Travel Guide and Rural Forum.

The SouthWest Regional Round Table met December 12th in Souris. SMT gave their report on the Leakage Study that they had been contracted to perform on behalf of the SWRRT. The group was very disappointed with the results. SMT had targeted consumer spending and trends but not actual leakage per say as had been requested. SMT was asked to re-work the report and a follow up workshop was held February 17th in Minto. The Round Table met February 6th in Boissevain for an Investment Development Training session with representatives from the Estey Centre. The purpose of the workshop was to develop the tools needed to identify the Competitive Advantage that each area has to offer.

The Parks Route Inc. last met on February 10th, 2003 in McCreary. The committee is working on the following projects for the upcoming year:

1 - placing a 8; x 16’ sign at the U.S. border south of Cartwright

2 - Website proposals are being examined to upgrade the current site for a more professional appearance

3 - Small sign additions to existing community signs have been discussed (On the Parks Route!)

4 - Golf packages: letters have been sent to the courses along the route. Potential methods to better promote Hwy #5 and the golf courses along the route is the goal

5 - 2003 memberships are being solicited. Ours is now due.

6 - The AGM will be held March 10th in McCreary. All are welcome and invited to attend.

7 - I am the new Treasurer for the organization.

The second draft of the Glenboro brochures arrived last week. Several more changes are required before it can go to print.

I recently attended both R.M. and Village Council meetings to discuss the Federal Broadband program, our area’s inclusion in this project and how it may affect the Glenboro area.

Rural Forum will be held April 24th - 26th at the Keystone Centre in Brandon. No agenda has yet been received but these dates are apparently the correct ones. This is an excellent opportunity to promote the Glenboro area.

The Friends of Spruce Woods are looking for new members. Those interested may contact Rosalie Sigurdson for more information.

The Southwest Regional Development Corporation is looking for a board member from this area. Anyone interested may contact Bill Shackel or myself for further information.

Museum Committee: Ernestine Sepke

The date of the next meeting is Monday, March 17th, 2003 at 7:00pm.

A motion was made by Ed, seconded by Ernestine that we adjourn. Carried.
