Committee Reports:

Properties Committee: Moray Jamieson

Hall: A meeting is scheduled for next week. Oktoberfest is planned for this weekend. It should be a good time as a lot of effort has been put in by our new members and the CDC executive.

Theatre: Nothing of importance to report this month. It is holding its own. Don mentioned that ten seats have been repaired but he is waiting on the additional ten to come back so as to install them all at once. We have the funds to pay for these repairs and there should be some left over to go ahead with the emergency lighting upgrade.

Camel Park & Signage: Cliff, Darren, Bob and myself spent a half day repairing and cleaning up Glenboro’s west entrance sign. Consideration will be taken on the other signs next year as to repairs or replacement.

Agricultural Committee: Ed Vertz

The Carolyn Sifton Foundation has reviewed the GCDC’s application for funds for the high-speed internet project and will make a decision on same at the board level in late November. I have also begun approaching major area businesses that may be willing to provide some funds for this project. The GCDC has applied to the Glenboro Branch of Westoba Credit Union for a line of credit for this venture. In order to do so, both the Village and R.M. must provide letters of support backing the project, similar to what was done with the hall project. Letters were drafted to both municipal corporations for their consideration and they have agreed to do so. Announcements regarding approved proposals is expected any day by the Federal Government.

The GCDC has placed an ad in the 2004 SouthWest Travel Guide. This book goes to print shortly and will be ready for distribution early in the New Year. The ad includes a list of 2004 Glenboro and area events.

I have scheduled an information meeting regarding Donor’s Choice and the possibility of setting up a similar program for Glenboro and area. Local canvass coordinators and other organizations possessing charitable tax numbers have been invited to attend.

The Glenboro Greenbacks program will function again in 2003. The promotion will operate as per usual from November 15th to and including December 24th, 2003. A letter has been sent to all 2002 business participants soliciting their participation. An ad has also been placed in the Gazette for other businesses who may be interested in participating. Those interested must call my office at 827-2575 by October 24th. The purpose of the Green backs promotion is to promote local shopping by offering the public six-month interest free loans of up to $1500. Individuals may apply for Greenbacks at the Glenboro Branch of Westoba Credit Union and use them at participating Glenboro and area merchants. A complete list of business participants will be placed in the November 12th Gazette.

The 2PPCLI Information fair will be held on November 19th and 20th/03 at the Kapyong Barracks in Winnipeg. The GCDC has registered for this event and will be there with the Glenboro display on hand. The event schedule is as follows:

Set up: November 19th - 10:00am to 2:30pm

Doors Open November 19th - 3:00pm to 9:00pm

November 20th - 11:00am to 8:00pm

Tear Down November 20th - 8:00pm

The GCDC is sponsoring a performance of the "Sisters of the Holy Rock" on April 3rd 2004 in Glenboro, Mark your calendars and plan to attend.

Museum Committee: Ernestine Sepke

Our door is in but the hinge needs replacing. Rob is going to do that. Donna Knight has donated her piano but we have to get some help to get it out of her basement. Harry Lalonde will check into that. We renewed our membership with the Manitoba Museum Association. The September bingo brought in $88.91. We are checking into the meat draws for January and February /04. We are still trying to find a highway sign with the museum emblem and also a sign for the front of the museum. Our ponnukokers for the craft sale were a huge success.

Do you want a history book?? Please attend our upcoming meeting. Stay tuned for details.

New Business: Cindy has been in touch with Larry Robinson regarding bringing a rodeo to Glenboro. She will report more at our next meeting. A committee is to be formed to work on the plans for our upcoming annual meeting. The winners of the free movie passes from the "Donate a Bundle" promotion were Anna Biles, Bruce Craig, Cathy Penner and Tomlinson Vet Enterprises. Congratulations!

The date of the next meeting is Monday, November 17th, 2003 at 7:00pm.

A motion was made by Glen, seconded by Moray that we adjourn. Carried.
