  GLENBORO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

          Minutes for March 28th 2006

 Present: Glen Tosh, Bob Jewsbury, Chris Tanasichuck, Joan Fallis, Earl Malyon, Ed 

               Vertz, Ernestine Sepke

 

1.  Glen called the meeting to order at 7:07 pm.

2.  Minutes of the last meeting were read.  Minutes were moved by Joan Seconded by Earl.  

3. Old Business

3.1 We still need a Chairperson.  Glen will chair the annual meeting and Earl Malyon will be interim chair till the end of this year. (June)

 3.2 CDC received a $5000 cheque from the Government and $1000 from Glenboro Area Foundation. ($500 for sign & $500 for Hall tables).  We also received $500 from RBC for signs.  Ed Vertz will spear head a group to choose sites for the signs.

3.3 We have received a lot of terrific items and services for the community auction.  Please keep it coming.  One more meeting will be held on March 29 to pull it all together. Glen will be on TV on the CKX noon show (CBC Brandon) live on April 4th at 12:45.  Wheat City Journal has donated an ad in their paper for the auction.  Tickets are being sold.  Get yours before they are all gone.

 3.4 Chris obtained a quote from Pembina Coop for benches to be put along the Walking Path.  Pricing is still on going and a grant will be applied for through Manitoba in Motion.

 3.5 Earl made a motion to spend $100 - $150 for wall plaque, which will remain at the hall and one for the recipient of the Resident of Distinction award to take home.  Seconded by Bob.

 3.6 There was a meeting with MTS regarding cell phone reception in our area.  MTS has slated our area for another tower in 2007.  We will keep writing letters till the reception in improved in and around Glenboro. 

4. Treasurers Report – Cash Balance is $11423.93.  Moved by Joan. Seconded by Bob.

 6. Committee Reports

            6.1 Properties – No report

             6.2 Museum – No report

             6.3 Promotion/Tourism – No Committee

            6.4 Business & Industry & Agriculture –

·        Ed reported that the Ag Days went well. Bio-Diesel was discussed and the possibility of a community meeting will be looked into.

             6.5 Economic Development –

·        I have been busy with the Auction Committee trying to pull it all together in the last few weeks.  The donations have been tremendous but we are still lacking those personal service donations.

·        I attended a Parks Route Inc (Hwy #5) meeting in McCreary last week.  It is the hope of the group to get another sign put up along highway #1, north of Carberry this year.  There area existing signs at Cartwright, Neepawa and Roblin so far.

 7. New Business

            7.1 Next meeting we will review and detail the Round Table Report

             7.2 Meetings will be changed to the 4th Wed of the month.

 8. Date of the next Meeting will be May 24th 2006 at 7 pm at the R.M. of South Cypress municipal office.

 9. Earl Malyon adjourned the meeting with a big thank you to Glen for putting in all the time he has and giving us time and his office for some meetings.  All were in agreement.  Thanks Glen.  We wish you the best.
