Minutes of Oct 24th, 2007

Held at the RM Office

 

Present:                        Curtis Wytinck, Chris Tanasichuk, Joan Fallis, Ernestine Sepke 

                        Moray Jamieson, Rob Gudnason, and Earl Malyon 

Special Guest    Mel Ham

  

1.                   Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.

 

2.         Mel Ham gave us and Informational Presentation regarding a school program he has been  involved with called The Senior Years Apprenticeship Option.

 

3.            Approval of Minutes from June 27th, 2007.     Rob/Moray            Carried

 

4.            Approval of Treasurer's Report as presented.            Joan / Moray  Carried

             

5.         Old Business

5.1            Town Signs: Pending

5.2            Review of the Round Table Report:  Community meeting will be held at the hall at 7 pm on Jan. 16th /08

5.3            Training Assistance: Will be discussed at the Round Table Meeting

5.4            Vacancy at Vet Clinic: Letters have been sent out to Vets in Manitoba informing them of our vacancy.

5.5             Peter Sawatzky Commission: Letters are being prepared to be sent out to large Corporations that may be interested in assisting us with this project.              

 

6.            Correspondence 

6.1            Mulmur’s One Week Inc. has requested permission from the Village to use footage of Sara in an upcoming film.

6.2            A Thank you card was received from Stubby & Betty Christie for Anniversary Flowers.

 

7.            Committee Reports 

7.1            Properties:

Hall:   No report

 

Theatre:   No report

 

Camel Park & Signage:   No report

 

7.2            Museum:    No report

 

7.3            Business and Industry:  The meeting consisted mainly of a discussion on the vacancy at the Vet Clinic and the progress of lot development in Glenboro.

 

7.4            Economic Development Officer:  On Oct 3rd - 5th, 2007, I travelled to Saskatoon to meet with spring 2008 Graduating Vet students.  These meetings were very positive but it is a huge decision for these students and a lot of them seem hesitant about starting out with their own business.  An invitation has been extended to them to come and see the areas and the facilities available throughout Manitoba whenever they wish. 

 

8.         New Business 

            8.1        A letter was received from Rudy Kovar saying that we should have public washrooms down town.  Chris has checked with other small towns and we are among the very few that do not have public washrooms.  It was agreed that public washrooms are needed and costs will be looked into.   

 

9.         Date of Next Meeting: Wednesday, Nov 21st, 2007 at 7:00pm
