Committee Reports

7.1             Properties:  Hall committee met on May 19th.   A small work party completed an inventory of the kitchen.  Some items need to be ordered.  Chris has the list and will be ordering the necessary items. Hills Heating & Cooling is installing a much needed water softener.

Theatre: The theatre has received a $6,000 grant from Community Places.  This money is to help with the following project: enlarging one of the washrooms, insulating and re-siding the front of the theatre.  Attendance has been very good.

7.2            Business and Industry:   No meeting

Museum:  The Museum celebrated Manitoba Day on May 12th by hosting a Pioneer Day. We had Tracy Rimmer baking bread in kitchen. Bill Nichols and Fred Stevens were working the Morse code machine that was used on the rail line.  Blanch Carpenter helped as our telephone switchboard operator. Carol Fulford worked the General store and Joy Lalonde in the dentist office.  Rudy Gysin was in the tool department and Gwen Jefferies was teaching in the school room.  Thank you to all of the volunteers and to Joe Rimmer for taking pictures. Ernestine Sepke greeted the 46 school children with 3 teachers in attendance as well as some of the public. The day was very successful with the children leaving with suckers and cookies to get them back to school and we hope a little more information about how life used to be.

7.4            Economic Development/Tourism Committee:  New “Camel” buttons have arrived and mugs have been ordered with an up to date picture of Sara.

8.         Date of Next Meeting: June 24th, 2009.
