Glenboro Community Development Corporation

Minutes of Sept 16th, 2009

Held at the Community hall

 

Present:            Earl Malyon, Chris Tanasichuk, Ernestine Sepke Wayne Davidson,   

Regrets:            Curtis Wytinck, Moray Jamieson, Penny Johnson  

 

1.                  Meeting was called to order by Earl at 7:00 pm.  

2.            Approval of Minutes from June 24th /09                   Ernestine/Wayne             Carried 

3.            Approval of Treasurer's Report as presented.                    Chris/Ernestine                Carried

             

4.            Correspondence           

            4.1             Thank you from the Tiger Hills Festival of the Arts for sponsoring the             Tudor Bowl   

            4.2             Thank you from the Glenboro Town Square Committee for the $50             donation to the memory garden

            4.3       Prairie Spirit School division - The international Student Recruiting Program wanted to know if anyone was interested in attending an informational meeting. 

            4.4            Jennifer Reynolds - Great West Brewing Company wants permission to             put Sara on their website.  Permission granted.

 

5.         Old Business 

5.1            Town Signs - Junipers bushes have been planted at the front of the sign. The weeds needs spraying at back of sign.

            For 2010: The sign further to the west of town will be moved to replace the sign south of town on Highway #5.  The other new town sign will be placed east of Glenboro on Highway #2 and replace the existing sign that is already at that location.   

5.2            Manitoba Homecoming 2010 – The Homecoming Committee will be meeting on September 21st.  The proceeds from the weekend will be divided between the six groups taking part.  The GCDC will use their portion of the proceeds to help erect the town sign east of Glenboro and to re-finish the floor at the Community Hall.

5.3            EMT training – There is one person enrolled in the upcoming training session.

 

6.         New Business 

            6.1       Property Taxes - Camel Park – It has come to our attention that this property is still registered to the Chamber of Commerce.  Chris will get this changed to the Glenboro Community Development Corporation. 

            6.2       Date of Meetings:  It was decided to move the meetings to the third Tuesday of each month.                              Ernestine/Wayne           Carried

             

Committee Reports 

7.1             Properties:  No formal report.  A discussion was held on the rental of the Hall and maintenance that should be done over the winter.

       Theatre: Attendance has been very good over the summer.  Our Community Places Projects will hopefully get started in November.  

7.2            Business and Industry: No meeting.  

7.3            Museum – Had a meeting on Sept 16th.  There was a profit of $1402.45 as a result of hamburger days.  Thank you to all that attended and/or donated. Joe Rimmer will still be working on the virtual museum over the winter. We are doing the craft fair in Oct. with pies as our product.   The Museum is now closed till May of 2010 but tours are still available by contacting one of our committee members. James Abbey has finished the recordings of each area of the museum rooms so people can listen to the history of each room.  Chris & Ernestine will be contacting the remaining people that have spoken for History books but not paid for or picked them up.
