Hunter Education Course Coming to Wawanesa

In order to qualify for the Hunter Safety course, participant must be 12 years old prior to or on December 19, 2009.  “Further, in order to qualify for a provincial hunting license, individuals who have NOT held a hunting license prior to 1969 must be graduate of a hunter safety course.”  (MWF website).  The 8 hour course is designed for both adult and youth learners and consists of interactive classroom and hands on instruction with qualified instructors and simulated equipment.  On successful completion of the course, participants will receive their Hunter Safety card.  The old Hunter Education manual are no longer available in classroom, but may be ordered or viewed (downloaded) on the Manitoba Wildlife Federation website. www.mwf.mb.ca.  Follow the links to Hunter Education on the home page. 

The Hunter Safety course may also be completed in the comfort of your own home with the online version made available through the Manitoba Wildlife Federation.  On successful completion of the online course, participants are required to have a follow up exam and practical test with an instructor.  This takes about 1-1/2 hours and may be available in Wawanesa on Friday, September 18 in the evening if there are enough people interested.  (a minimum of 5 participants is required).  This online course is designed for adult learners but youths also qualify.  Follow the links on the website www.mwf.mb.ca to register or call Lilian Trowbridge  at 824-2122 for more information.
