Minutes of the tenth regular meeting of the 2006/2007 Council of the Village of Glenboro held in the Village/Municipal Council Chambers at 618 Railway Avenue Glenboro, Manitoba on Tuesday, August 14th, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Present at the meeting: Councillors
Loren H. Nelson, Robert G. Jewsbury, Steve R. Bjornson, Robert J. Gudnason and
Chief Administrative Officer Eric C. Plaetinck.
Deputy Mayor Loren H. Nelson,
presiding, called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. RESOLVED
that the minutes of the last regular meeting of Council held on Tuesday, July
10, 2007 be taken as read and approved, all statutory requirements having been
fulfilled.

RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro appoint Mayor William Shackel and Councillor Robert Gudnason
to act on the Selection Committee in the hiring of a Village Utilityman/Glenboro
Curling Club/Arena Icemaker. “carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro hold its’ 2007 Tax Sale on Wednesday, December 12, 2007
commencing at 2:00 p.m. at the office of the Village of Glenboro located at 618
Railway Avenue, Glenboro Manitoba.
“carried” RESOLVED
that the Council of the Village of Glenboro enter into a lease agreement on
behalf of the Glenboro-South Cypress Municipal Heritage Committee with Imperial
Oil Limited for the rental of a portion of Lot 1; Plan 26826 for the purpose of
accommodating the placement of an old CPR caboose at the said location.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro adopt and approve the Villages’ updated Emergency Plan,
which is included and shown in conjunction with the Spruce Lakes Emergency
Measures Plan, as submitted by emergency coordinator Garth McIntyre.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro acknowledge and accept the terms, conditions and rates specified by the Municipal Auditing Firm of BDO Dunwoody LLP of Winnipeg, Manitoba as outlined in a July 24, 2007 letter, which explains CICA revised auditing standards and guidelines which affects the scope and nature of the auditing procedures for the Village of Glenboro.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro authorize the cancellation of 50% of the 2006 school on tax
roll #8800, to reflect the purchase of the said property by the Royal Canadian
Legion – Glenboro Branch #71 on July 1, 2006, and is to correspond with their
official exemption of school tax on registered properties.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro confirm a reservation with Days Inn – Brandon of
Brandon, Manitoba for a total of 5 standard one bedroom suites, which will be
required by the Council Members and the Assistant C.A.O. in conjunction with
their attendance of the A.M.M. Annual Convention being held in Brandon, Manitoba
on November 26 – 29, 2007.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro authorize the payment of fiscal year 2007 accounts from
cheque #1764 to and including cheque #1787 and cheque #1789 to and including
cheque #1793 and cheque #1795 to and including cheque #1801 amounting to a total
of $43,518.69 as fully detailed to Council by the Chief Administrative Officer.

Prior to the presentation of resolution #2007-121 and the associated
subject, Councillor Steve Bjornson, having a personal interest in the matter,
withdrew from the Council Chambers, not returning until after the vote on said
resolution. RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro authorize the payment of fiscal year 2007 account/cheque
#1788 amounting to $250.00, as submitted to Council by the Chief Administrative
Officer.
“carried” Prior
to the presentation of resolution #2007-122 and the associated subject,
Councillor Loren Nelson, having a personal interest in the matter, withdrew from
the Council Chambers, not returning until after the vote on said resolution. RESOLVED that the Council of
the Village of Glenboro authorize the payment of fiscal year 2007 account/cheque
#1794 amounting to $504.19 as submitted to Council by the Chief Administrative
Officer.

RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro do now adjourn at 10:00 p.m. to convene again at the next
regular meeting of Council scheduled for Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 7:00
p.m.
