Minutes
of the eighth regular meeting of the 2006/2007 Council of the Village of
Glenboro held in the Village/Municipal Council Chambers at 618 Railway Avenue
Glenboro, Manitoba on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Present at the meeting: Mayor
William R. Shackel, Councillors Loren H. Nelson, Robert G. Jewsbury, Steve R.
Bjornson, Robert J. Gudnason, Chief Administrative Officer Eric C. Plaetinck and
Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Darren J. Myers.
Mayor William R. Shackel, presiding,
called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. During
the meeting, at the times indicated, Council met with the following delegations: John McEntee }

that the minutes of the last regular meeting of Council held on Tuesday, May 8,
2007 be taken as read and approved, all statutory requirements having been
fulfilled. “carried”
RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro ratify the purchase and delivery of crushed gravel on
GlenTown Road and the stockpile of same at the Village Maintenance Shed by
Fisher Backhoe Services of Glenboro, Manitoba at and for the tendered price; AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that
the Council of the Village of Glenboro ratify the purchase and delivery of
crushed gravel on specified Village back lanes as well as Railway Avenue South
by Jim Outhwaite of Stockton, Manitoba at and for the tendered price. “carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro authorize the student employment of Jovi Foord-Kelcey as
“Assistant Utility Man/Groundskeeper” for the Village of Glenboro and the
Glenboro Cemetery Committee for the seasonal employment term of June 25 to and
including August 31, 2007 at a 40 hour work week. “carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro purchase a new 10 horsepower Flygt C3127 pump for the main
sewage lift station from Contec Projects of Winnipeg, Manitoba at and for the
quoted price of $7,770.00 plus applicable taxes, labour and materials included. “carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro advertise for the invitation of tenders for all equipment,
labour and materials necessary in the complete removal of the old concrete
sidewalk and the installation of a new concrete sidewalk (approximately 240 feet
in length) on the north side of Donald Avenue from Christie Street to Miles
Street: AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the
tender submission closing date be Monday July 9, 2007 with the said project to
be completed by Friday August 31, 2007. “carried”
RESOLVED
that the Council of the Village of Glenboro authorize Senior Election Official
Agnes Witherspoon to update the Village of Glenboro’s Elector’s List
bi-annually effective 2008. “carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro ratify the employment of Brittany Cullen as Manager of the
Glenboro Youth Job Centre for the period May 28, 2007 to August 3, 2007. “carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro grant the Glenboro/South Cypress Heritage Committee
permission to place a used CPR caboose complete with tracks on Village property
east of the Glenboro Water Tower. “carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro support the 2007 “Encounters With Canada” program by
authorizing a grant in the total amount of $200.00, which shall be divided
equally among Glenboro School students applying for and being accepted in the
program’s participation. “carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro approve the purchase and installation of a 12,000 BTU air
conditioning unit from Hill’s Heating and Cooling of Glenboro, Manitoba for
the Village/R.M. Office; AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that
the cost of same be split with the R.M. of South Cypress according to the
current amalgamation agreement.

“carried” Prior to the presentation of Resolution #2007-102 and the associated subject, Councillor Loren Nelson, having a personal interest in the matter, withdrew from the Council chambers, not returning until after the vote on said resolution. RESOLVED
that the Council of the Village of Glenboro authorize the payment of fiscal year
2007 account/cheque #1715 amounting to $293.04 as submitted to Council by the
Assistant C.A.O. “carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro do now adjourn at 10:03 p.m. to convene again for the next
regular meeting of Council scheduled for Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. “carried” |
