Minutes of the twelfth regular meeting of the 2006/2007 Council of the Village of Glenboro held in the Village/Municipal Council Chambers at 618 Railway Avenue Glenboro, Manitoba on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.

 Present at the meeting: Mayor William R. Shackel, Councillors Loren H. Nelson, Robert G. Jewsbury, Steve R. Bjornson, Robert J. Gudnason, Chief Administrative Officer Eric C. Plaetinck and Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Darren J. Myers.

Mayor William R. Shackel, presiding, called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m.

 During the meeting, at the times indicated, Council met with the following delegations:

 Mel Ham                          }       Senior Years Apprenticeship  Program – Glenboro School

 

RESOLVED that the minutes of the last regular meeting of Council held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 be taken as read and approved, all statutory requirements having been fulfilled.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro ratify the casual employment of Ron Cullen and Trevor Drinkwater of Glenboro, Manitoba for the Village of Glenboro for the 2007-2008 winter season on an “as required” basis.                     

                                                                “carried”

 

 

                                  RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro authorize the purchase of 1 – High Work Maintenance Platform from Tenaquip of Winnipeg, Manitoba at and for the quoted price of $645.00 plus applicable taxes.

 

                                                  “carried” 

 

                                  RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro authorize Village Foreman Armand Vallotton to attend the Wastewater Treatment 1 course being held at Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, Manitoba March 31 to April 3, 2008 and the Wastewater Collection 1 course being held at Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, Manitoba April 21 to 23, 2008;

 

AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro cover the cost of the registration fee for both courses as well as all accommodation, meal and travel expenses incurred.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro give second and third reading to By-Law #702 (Vis-à-vis the establishment and participation of the Assiniboine Hills Conservation District).

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro appoint all members of the Glenboro-South Cypress Fire Department as Special Constables for the Village of Glenboro during October 31, 2007 to and including November 1, 2007 for the purpose of policing the Village during Halloween;

 AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the Village pay a flat fee of $1,000.00 to the fire department for this service.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro enter into an agreement with Manitoba Hydro for the immediate supply and installation of 3 streetlights on the west side of Valmor Road and 1 streetlight near the corner of Valmor Road and Railway Avenue and also in conjunction with same the provision of Hydro pre-servicing of the four lots (lots 3 – 6) along Valmor Road, which would include the transformation and overhead service drops to accommodate the anticipated new residences which are to be built on the said lots.

 

AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the estimated cost of this combined project be approximately $8,500.00 with the consideration for a potential refund entitlement, to the Village of Glenboro, of $1,125.00 plus GST for each residence built on the said lots which are connected within six years of the date of the subdivision being serviced.

                                    RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro authorize all members of Council and the Assistant C.A.O. to attend the Association of Manitoba Municipalities 9th Annual Convention being held in Brandon, Manitoba November 26 – 29, 2007.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro authorize the payment of fiscal year 2007 accounts from cheque #1847 to and including cheque #1877 and cheque #1879 to and including cheque #1888 amounting to a total of $62,146.20 as fully detailed to Council by the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro authorize the payment of fiscal year 2007 account/cheque #1878 amounting to $2.83 as submitted to Council by the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro do now adjourn at 9:55 p.m. to convene again at the next regular meeting of Council scheduled for Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.
