Minutes of the twelfth regular meeting
of the 2007/2008 Council of the Village of Glenboro held in the
Village/Municipal Council Chambers at 618 Railway Avenue Glenboro, Manitoba on
Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Present at the meeting: Mayor William R.
Shackel, Councillors Robert G. Jewsbury, Steve R. Bjornson, Loren H. Nelson,
Chief Administrative Officer Eric C. Plaetinck and Assistant Chief
Administrative Officer Darren J. Myers. Mayor William R. Shackel, presiding,
called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. During the meeting, at the time
indicated, Council met with the following delegation. Armand Vallotton }

RESOLVED
that the minutes of the last regular meeting of Council held on Tuesday,
September 9, 2008 and the minutes of a special meeting of Council held on
Wednesday, September 24, 2008 be taken as read and approved, all statutory
requirements having been fulfilled.

RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro adopt the following policy forthwith: That a development permit be required
on all portable/temporary canvas/plastic structures erected in the Village of
Glenboro.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro appoint all members of the Glenboro-South Cypress Fire
Department as special constables for the Village of Glenboro during October 31,
2008 and including November 1, 2008 for the purpose of policing the Village
during Halloween; AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the
Village pay a flat fee of $1,000.00 to the Fire Department for this service.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro contract the services of Cypress Industries of Cypress
River, Manitoba to replace the bottom portion of the garbage compactor on the
Village Garbage Truck at and for the quoted price of $1,600.00 plus applicable
taxes, tailgate, catches and hinges extra. “carried” RESOLVED
that the Council of the Village of Glenboro accept the tender submitted by Glen
and Albert Hamilton of Glenboro, Manitoba for one (1) 1997 25’ Recycling
Trailer no longer required for use by the Village of Glenboro.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro pro-rate the 2008 Added Taxes and Subsequent Class Change on
Roll #13400 for two months of the current year.

RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro approve the reduced 2009 assessment on Roll #2800 by a total
of $3,700.00.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro authorize Councillor Bob Jewsbury to attend an Assiniboine
Municipal Health Committee meeting October 20, 2008 in Reston, Manitoba.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro authorize Mayor Bill Shackel to attend the Recreation
Conference for Community Volunteers November 7 – 9, 2008 in Brandon, Manitoba.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro authorize Councillor Steve Bjornson to attend the Manitoba
Waste Reduction and Recycling Forum November 7, 2008 in Brandon, Manitoba.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro authorize the payment of fiscal year 2008 accounts from
cheque #2906 to and including cheque #2946 and cheque #2948 to and including
cheque #2961 amounting to a total of $99,081.91 as fully detailed to Council by
the Assistant C.A.O. “carried” Prior to the presentation of Resolution
#2008-125 and the associated subject, Councillor Loren Nelson, having a personal
interest in the matter, withdrew from the Council Chambers, not returning until
after the vote on said resolution.
RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro authorize the payment of fiscal year 2008 account/cheque
#2947 amounting to $1,170.08 as submitted to Council by the Assistant C.A.O.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro do now adjourn, at 9:24 p.m., to convene again for the next
regular meeting of Council scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 7:00
p.m.
