Minutes of a “Special Meeting” of the 2007/2008 Council of the Village of Glenboro held in the Village/Municipal Council Chambers at 618 Railway Avenue, Glenboro, Manitoba on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Notice was given in conformity
with Section 151(2) of The Municipal Act. Present at the meeting: Mayor
William R. Shackel, Councillors Robert J. Gudnason, Loren H. Nelson, Steve R.
Bjornson, Robert G. Jewsbury, Chief Administrative Officer Eric C. Plaetinck and
Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Darren J. Myers. Mayor William R. Shackel,
presiding, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. The
meeting was called to specifically deal with the following matter: To discuss the current state of the 1992
Ford F-350 Garbage Truck and the work required in order for it to meet
Provincial safety requirements and to consider options that have surfaced with
regards to its’ repair or replacement.
Upon conclusion of a thorough
discussion on the situation, Council agreed that their best alternative is to
have H & L Motors Ltd. of Glenboro provide the necessary parts and labour
required to safety the Ford cab, chassis and power train and in addition, to
obtain quotes from both Norbert’s Manufacturing of Glenboro, Manitoba and
Cypress Industries of Cypress River, Manitoba, for the manufacturing of a new
steel box for the garbage truck’s compactor unit, in order for same to pass
said Provincial safety. RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro do now adjourn at 7:02 p.m. to convene again at the next
regular meeting of Council scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. “carried”
