Minutes of the fifth regular meeting of
the 2008/2009 Council of the Village of Glenboro held in the Village/Municipal
Council Chambers at 618 Railway Avenue Glenboro, Manitoba on Tuesday, March 10,
2009 at 7:00 p.m. Present at the meeting: Mayor William R.
Shackel, Councillors Loren H. Nelson, Steve R. Bjornson, Robert G. Jewsbury,
Chief Administrative Officer Eric C. Plaetinck and Assistant Chief
Administrative Officer Darren J. Myers.
Mayor William R. Shackel, presiding, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. RESOLVED
that the minutes of the last regular meeting of Council held on Monday, February
10, 2009 be taken as read and approved, all statutory requirements having been
fulfilled.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro contract the services of Cypress Industries Ltd. of Cypress
River, Manitoba to manufacture a complete new “side load steel garbage
compactor” to fit the Village’s 2008 Ford F-550 diesel truck at and for the
quoted price. “carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro accept the student employment application submitted by Sarah
Cory of Wawanesa, Manitoba for the position of Manager of the Manitoba Youth Job
Centre, subject to terms and conditions specified in the 2009 employment
contract.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro contract the services of Cypress Industries Ltd. of Cypress
River, Manitoba to manufacture two new Man-Winch sockets to be placed on the
Lift Stations on Murray Avenue and Donald Avenue as per new Provincial
Government Safety Standards at and for the quoted price.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro authorize a payment of $770.88 to the Glenboro Community
Development Corporation representing costs incurred to date for six (6)
individuals in obtaining EMT Certification.

Village of Glenboro acknowledge and approve receipt of the Glenboro Rink
Committee’s 2009 budget and levy request of $12,468.00 from the Village of
Glenboro.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro acknowledge and
approve receipt of the Spruce Lakes Recreation District’s budget and levy
request of $14,695.00 from the Village of Glenboro.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro acknowledge and
approve receipt of the Western Manitoba Regional Library Board levy/rent subsidy
request of $6,078.10 from the Village of Glenboro.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro acknowledge and
approve receipt of the Glenboro Cemetery Committee’s 2009 budget and levy
request of $2,00.00 from the Village of Glenboro.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro purchase 350 new
lapel pins from International Coats of Arms of Kingston, Manitoba at and for the
quoted price of $1.39 per pin plus g.s.t.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro contract the services of “TaxService” to act as an agent
on behalf of the Village of Glenboro and conduct its 2009 Tax Sale process at no
cost to the Village of Glenboro.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro authorize Bob
Jewsbury to attend the Manitoba Weed Control Issues meeting being held Wednesday
March 18, 2009 in Holland, Manitoba.
“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro jointly with the Council of the Rural Municipality of South
Cypress set the following days/hours of operation for the Glenboro Waste
Disposal Grounds/Transfer Station for the period March 11 to October 31, 2009:
Monday
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday
1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Friday
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Saturday
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro authorize Armand
Vallotton to attend the Traffic Safety Workshop meeting being held Thursday
March 26, 2009 in Brandon, Manitoba.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro authorize Bob
Jewsbury to attend the Veterinary Services / District Chairs meeting being held
Friday April 3, 2009 in Ashern, Manitoba.

RESOLVED that the Council of the Village of Glenboro adopt the
Villages’ Financial Statement for Fiscal Year ending December 31, 2008 as
presented by the CAO indicating a net operating deficit of $704.85.

“carried” RESOLVED that the Council of the
Village of Glenboro do now adjourn at 10:05 p.m. to convene again for a special
meeting of Council (Fiscal Year 2009 Budget Meeting) scheduled for Tuesday,
April 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.
